What is Prophetic Painting?

Prophetic Painting is painting from inspiration through the Holy Spirit. I will try to describe my experience: 'prophetic' includes something like hearing from God, passing on what the Holy Spirit speaks, passing on a message, it might have a foretelling character. The Bible calls it edifying, exhorting and comforting (1 Cor. 14:3). Prophecying can be done in words, but also in acting, a prophetic act.
God gave some people a strong gift in speaking through images.

'Prophetic' can also have a dimension of acting without having a rationalized plan. One could call it intuitive acting. You know that you have to do something, but sometimes there is no clear reason to do so. One could call it Christian intuitive painting.

How?

This is what I do: I start praying, seek the Lord, take quiet time, worship with music and I ask to hear 'something' from Him, which colors to take, or which technique, or which background, where to begin, etc. Then the interaction comes, it starts intuitively and gradually the work grows. Often during painting a scripture comes up that can be inserted into the painting.
And still 'prophetic' does not always mean painting spontaneously. Sometimes there is an existing image, vision or dream. In a case like this the painting can be planned carefully beforehand. It definitely is not a spontaneous painting.
Do you want to know more about prophesying, there are some good books by Graham Cooke, Bill Hamon, Cindy Jacobs, Mike Bickle a.o. You can order my book Prophetic Painting through an email with your address.
